DANCING FIRE YOGA - "The Healing Path of Yoga."

Dancing Fire Yoga offers workshops, lectures, private and group yoga classes. Other services include, stress managment, meditation, chakra balancing and energy work.
The emphasis on the practice is self-healing. Classes are taught to the level of the individual students allowing each person to go at his/her own pace. Students are exposed to asanas (hatha yoga postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, visualization and deep relaxation. The classes are gentle, fun and at times deeply moving. Open to all levels of experience. If you can breathe, you can participate in these classes.

The classes are facilitated by professionally certified yoga instructor Mike Heitkamp.
On the night of Mike's birth the doctor's informed his parents that their baby had a "malformed heart" and was not expected to live through the night. While the MD's were preparing Mike's family for his "inevitable death", his grandmothers gathered with friends and family members and prayed that this baby may live.
It is nearly forty years later and Mike's heart is still beating strong.

In 1993 Mike was introduced to yoga through the Dr. Dean Ornish Program to Reverse Heart Disease. Mike received a deep and profound healing through his yoga practice. He apprenticed with holistic health practitioner, Nan Kienow, founder of "Yoga for Real People" and became the first student to graduate as a "Yoga for Real People " yoga teacher. In 1994 Mike was certified at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, as a yoga teacher. In 2000, Mike became certified to work with people with heart disease , cancer, ms and other chronic illness', through Nischala Joy Devi's, "Yoga of the Heart" teacher training. Mike has studied with teachers and healers from many traditions. He has spent many years apprentacing with Native American and other healers of the earth. He has taught classes to all ages from children to seniors. He uses humor and story-telling to convey his belief that we all have the ability within to change our lives and the world for the better. He is co-owner and vice president of the Dayton Yoga Center. He currently lives in Englewood, Ohio.

The mission of Dancing Fire Yoga is to help people realize that they have the power within themselves to change their lives and the world for the better. Founded in 1994 by yoga instructor Mike Heitkamp, Dancing Fire Yoga has helped people from all walks of life "dance through the fire" and emerge with confidence and commitment to follow the calling of their heart and live to their fullest potential.
